John De Morgan (1848–1926)

The subject of this book, Francis Martin, The Swamp Fox, is a great American patriot that has been some what forgotten. His exploits are herculean. His faith was exemplary and his hero status remains unsullied over the past two centuries.

The heroes make a trip to South-East Asia which leads to the discovery of tribes of arboreal human-like apes. The writing itself is fairly awful, but the story is entertaining enough.

A story with preposterous events, but interesting in that the shipwrecked boy lives with ape companions for a period of time, later he meets a black Tarzan-like character, and together they same a girl from the local cannibals. Lots of cool ideas, just a terrible writer.
