Good Cozy Mystery

This is a good cozy mystery to lay down on the couch on a drab snowy or rainy day and get all wrapped up in your favorite blanket and go away for a while and let yourself get sucked into the lives of the people in this cozy mystery. I would highly recommend this book. I found it to be very fun and entertaining.

This is the first book I have read by Wendy Delaney. I am now addicted! I loved the characters and small town charm. And we all know small town's have lots and lots of gossip. Who doesn't love a little juicy gossip once in awhile. Boy does part time Deputy Coroner and full time Prosecutors Assistant, Charmaine, Char have tails a wagging in small town Port Merritt.
She has her childhood crush the hot Detective Steve Sixkiller in her life and she is seen having dinner with the most eligible bachelor Kyle Cardinale. Oh and if I didn't mention he is a hot, hot ER Doctor that everyone drools over. And the kicker to this is she has been keeping her relationship with Steve on the down low from her best friends and Steve is wondering WHY???
Things go from bad to worse for Char when she is told to interview the grieving family of Marty McCutcheon. He ran into some really bad luck and died on his 63rd birthday. And with a heart history and bad eating habits the Corner is not convinced that it is just not a heart attack. Even the hot ER Dr is saying it is a heart attack. Char now has to deal with the Ex wife Darlene crying foul and saying that his new sexy wife killed Marty! YIKES!!! What has Char gotten herself into???
She has a small list of suspects but no evidence and a boyfriend telling her to leave it alone. Char doesn't listen and starts to investigate thinking this could be a poisoning. She finds a lot of skeletons in people's closets and people don't want them out! Will she be able to find the truth before another life is lost? Will she be able to keep her hunky detective or will it all go south?
This book was a fun fast paced entertaining read. A lot of humor and twists and turns keep you on your toes. This is a must read! *Some sexual innuend and language *

The cast of characters in Working Stiffs is back again with lots of laughs, cookies, and murder.
With plenty of drama between the characters.

Charmaine Digby has not been with the Deputy Coroner office yet a month. She has been having relations with her good friend Police Detective Steve Sixkiller. Charmaine can tell when someone is lying. She is curious and goes way beyond her job into Steve's.

Steve is the homicide detective. He is a neighbor of Char's grandmother and a good friend to them. He keeps telling Char to stay out of investigating.

While on a breakfast date with Char, Steve gets called away. A body washed up on shore. He does his job. But till after the autopsy there is no case. Char decides she has to find out more about what happened. She gets into Steve's way a lot and he won't talk to her about the case.

Russell Falco is a lady's man. He gets into trouble.

Charmaine has a bunch of relatives. Her mom is a famous Actress that is broke, they are both staying with Char's grandma. Her Uncle and Aunt run a café. I love her relatives. They make the story.

Port Merritt, WA is a small town not far from Seattle.

I like how this story is different than most murder stories. That till the Autopsy report there is not a case. That the police detective does not tell anyone about the case he is working on.

I was given this ebook to read so I could honestly review it and be part of its blog tour.

I was very entertained by reading this mystery. The heroine was a hard caring worker. The other characters were a hoot. It is a good cast of characters. I have been in the mood for reading a lot of mysteries lately. I did not guess who the murder was.

The mystery is set in Port Merritt, Washington population 5,000. It has a small friendly community feel to the story. One scene takes place on a ferry. I have always wanted to ride on one I can just see Charmaine in her car not wanting to get out and go to the bathroom and see someone she just does not want to run into their.

Charmaine has moved back into her grandmother's house after her divorce. She has been looking for work and not having much luck. To fill in while she is looking she is working for her great uncle, Duke at Duke's Café. Char uses the café's coffee and muffins as bribes and for excuses to get into see people.

Char has one really special talent she can tell when people are lying to her. She hopes to work for the Chimacam County Prosecutor office. Lots of people know her from working at Duke's Café on and off through the years. She gets a thirty day trial.

Steve Sixkiller is the police detective and lives across from her grandmothers. They are friends. Steve keeps telling her to but out of his way. That their is no case yet. The results will take 6 to 8 weeks to see if a murder or death of natural causes. Steve gets very frustrated with her showing up all over and finding out facts he already knows. Steve eats a lot at Duke's Café too.

Char's mother Marietta is a actress and has come for the funeral of Trudy. She is planning on staying for a week. While she is their Char gets moved to the foldout bed in the study. It is not to comfortable.

Char's Great Aunt Alice is Duke's wife and the baker at Duke's Café. She is not feeling well but she won't go to the doctor or hospital after all the healthier patients are dying right before going home.

Lucille is a long time waitress at Duke's Café. She is always seeing conspiracies all around her. She thinks something is going on at the hospital too. I like Lucille.

Lots of humor, drama, great relationships, with a touch of romance, tango lessons and action makes a great read. I hope their is a book two coming out soon.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it as part of her blog tour.
