This collection of 20 dystopian urban fantasy novels is a great deal. I am reviewing Kiersten Fay's The Vampire's Masquerade. Vampire's Masquerade is the 4th book in the Creatures of Darkness series and a follow up to Keeping his Siren. Lex and Kasima meet at the Ever Nights club and it's instant attraction - what is initially meant to be a one night stand turns into a steamy affair with a bit of a surprise ending. It was nice to be reacquainted with the rest of the Ever Nights characters and I hope to see more of their stories.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book via an Amazon-US KINDLE Unlimited download.

Being shell-shocked due to a disastrous first romantic experience Brianna Johnson from which she’s stilling having horrific dreams about, decided to move to Barefoot Bay with the hopes of removing them from her mind. But just as the old proverb "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride" goes, just having her hoping for it to come is not sufficient to make it happen; she needs to take some as well.
Brianna’s plans go awry when she turns into Monroe Rainey who turns out to be a interruption for having it happen, destroying her desire to have her life returning to what it had been like before her finding love the first time. This is easier said than done, because she doesn’t know how to deal with his overpowering presence; does she take off like a scared rabbit and try to disappear, or does she stay for an opportunity not to let a possible HEA get away.

Monroe, like Brianna, has his own baggage from a failed relationship; and with his new business occupying his mind, he can’t afford to allow a new relationship cloud his mind. However, fate steps in, causing a spark to rekindle his suppressed desire to have a HEA, a desire for which he wasn’t about to lose a chance to obtain.

When these two realized the possibilities of what might happen if come together as one, I could help hearing the song “This Can Be the Start of Something Big” in my mind, because this is what precisely what their budding relationship can become. [Play this song from YouTube to get the sense of what I got reading this book.]

For having given her readers a rather endearing story of two individuals finding a second chance at romance, I’ve given the author. Taige Crenshaw, 5 STARS for this book.

I think the story idea is a good one. To me the story was like taking a 500 page book cutting out most of it to make it fit 250 pages. The sentences were short to the point. Then the story jumps ahead. In my opinion I would have liked to see more details to fill in the story.
This novel has a little bit of everything, shapeshifters, spirits, elementals, etc. The last third of the book was better then the first third.
This is a book 2 in the series.

A shifter and a woman with untapped powers, can they discover the magnitude of her potential before it’s too late?

Aren Van der Ness has been away from Savoy Valley for a few years, but returned at the request of a friend. A man used to being alone, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the woman he was asked to investigate, Nahia Freeman. From their first meeting, he knows that this woman possesses incredible powers. Can he help her learn to harness them while dealing with his fierce attraction to her?

Nahia Freeman is visiting Savoy Valley, finally finding solitude and escape from the strange dreams that have haunted her and the men who seemed to follow her. All that changes when she meets the tall, golden-brown eyed Aren. The emotions he evokes in her are like nothing she’s ever experienced before, and they send her reeling. Anytime she’s near him, she feels different, as if she’s losing control of something. After deciding to keep her distance from him and his pull on her, Nahia finds that he is apparently the only one who can help her. So, swallowing back her desire for him, she puts her future in his hands.

With the clock ticking down and unsure of what they are up against, will Aren be able to keep her safe by being her guardian? Or will the guardian prove to be the one in need of protection? What will happen because of destiny, or the prophecy that is so much more than either realizes? Can all they know be saved by the Sentinel?
