The nonfiction story of a woman who in later life became the steward of a rare breed of sheep, the Orkney Boreray. She began as a knitter, then began to explore the history of some of the primitive sheep native to Scotland. Moving from Newcastle to Orkney, she becomes a shepherd, then a steward to encourage others to keep this breed alive.
