*Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this book from Netgalley and Red Adept Publishing in exchange for an honest review

I've only encountered succubus in TV shows and let me tell you, unless that character's name is Bo (Lost Girl), usually these creatures are evil. This is the first time, however, that I've read about them and I loved the unique way in which they were described in this book.

First we have Allison. She's what you might call the good twin. She stays away from boys, tries really hard to ignore her nature and what she is and, for the most part, she manages quite well. I felt very bad for her while reading this book. She knows that her mom killed her father, she knows why her mother is dead, she also knows that there's a huge chance that she'll end up the same as her mom. Her twin sister, Jade, is the perfect example of what she's running away from and of what she's desperately trying not to become. Then she meets Ren and she understands what she might lose if she gives in to her urges.

Then there's Jade, who, like I said earlier, she's reckless and completely different from Allison. Jade is much more in control of herself though, than Allison is, no matter how dangerous the situation might get with the guys she meets. Her reckless behavior eventually catches up with her and she ends up in a bad situation and it's interesting to see how the sisters deal with this situation.

You also have Aunt Sarah, who's... let's just say she surprised the hell out of me in this book. She's the type of character that made me want to be able to shake her really hard. And then my mind was blown because I did not see that one coming AT ALL!

Taking the supernatural elements out of this book, there's a really powerful moment in the story that I loved and that I wanted to see being explored more in depth, especially since it's something that can happen but that doesn't get talked about a lot. I can't say more, because of spoilers, but let's just say that this particular situation is not something most people feel inclined to acknowledge.

The ending felt a bit too abrupt, so I'm hoping there's a second book in the works, because I want to see how the story moves on and if Allison finds what she's looking for and if she finds answers to all of her questions. I'll definitely planning on reading the second book if and when it comes out.

Into a Millions Pieces by Angela V. Cook

Allison McKready and her twin sister Jade are both a succubus. They are complete opposites. While Jade is boy-crazy and spending her summer fooling around with boys, Allison keeps to herself in her "goth attire" avoiding the bully Julie. Both girls know of the family curse, they know what happened to their mother. But Jade seems to be on a destructive path. Then Allison meets Ren, the only one who seems to understand her.
Soon Jade ends up embarrassed after one of her risky dates, and things turn tragic. While Allison gets closer to Ren, she fears hurting him. Will she be able to control the curse , because what she doesn't know is that her own life is in danger.

I liked both Jade and Allison, they are typical teenagers, with a curse they must deal with. Life is not easy for either of them. Each of them are faced with choices that will lead to consequences that they will have to deal with. Add their dominating super religious Aunt, just makes life harder for the two.

The story is fast paced, the plot is original, the characters are and well developed. The story has a paranormal twist, with real life teen problems. Which makes an even intense read. A perfect blend of drama, paranormal, teen troubles, difficult choices and a splash of suspense . I highly recommend Into a Million Pieces to Young Adults, Adults and those who love an original paranormal story.

I’ve been finding a book about succubus for such a long time since I stumbled upon a manga called Rosario + Vampire and fell in love with it (sorry, side info). And oh, just imagine how exciting I was when I finally found this book.

Meet Allison, our one and only protagonist of Into a Million Pieces. Every woman born into her family is cursed to become a succubus with dazzling beauty and deadly ability to drain energy from men with a kiss…and more *cough*. So of course, Allison and her twin sister, Jade, are not exceptions, either.

Totally different from her twin, Allison tried her best to hide her appearance, what she considers ” a curse”, and pushed everyone away from her. This is quite strange for me, actually, since this is the first book ever that I like the book but dislike its main character. Yes, for some reasons, Allison annoyed me. Well, she is a very responsible girl with a love for library and books, and I give her that, but she is also a very hot temper person. She acts and speaks without thinking and get mad easily, which is a very good thing consider she wants to separate herself from others. I know she has a reason to do so, but whenever it happened, I just felt…itchy and wanted to jump into the story and tell her to chill down. I think that runs in the family, since her sister has the same thing with temper too. I guess I have that weird love/hate relationship with Allison.

Throughout the book, Allison developed a feeling for Ren, and it was so sweet that my heart was kinda melted a little bit. Ren is an intelligent, cheerful, and caring guy, and despite how hard Allison tried to push him away at first, he still can see through her dark makeup and love her for who she is. The plot twist of Into a Million Pieces is like a true roller coaster. It was so quick and unexpected, full of unanswered questions. This is why I really need this book to become a series.

Angela V. Cook has created such a wonderful story with a little supernatural, a little love, and a little family relationship. I love love love the strange closeness between Allison and her twin, Jade. Although their personalities are different, they love and stay loyal to each other more than anything. This is the best thing about this book. I enjoy reading this book a lot and can’t wait to see if the author decide to write more about Allison or not. Having the second book in my hand next year would be such a great 2016-look-ahead!

This book caught my attention instantly, which was so surprising to me. I usually don’t read paranormal books, but this synopsis just swiped me up. If there are some of you that are hesitant to pick it up because it is a paranormal, don’t be scared…it’s much more than “ghouls and ghostly” stuff.
Throughout this book I had a hard time liking anyone other than Allison. She has such a hard time throughout this book and I just completely feel for her. It breaks my heart how badly she is treated and how much of an outsider she is. Allison has a twin and when people usually think of twins you think of the word “same.” No, Allison and her twin sister Jade are polar opposites and its definitely eye opening.
Ren is a character that I enjoyed – definitely sweeping Allison off her feet. You could tell how much Allison changed when he came into the picture and that was something so awesome. I was happy for her. But, it didn’t last very long though…go figure right? How can a book pick up and you feel happy for the character and the author just shoots you down! BOOM. The feels.
This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. You can be smiling one minute and have tears rolling down your face from laughing and feeling happy for the character, then right around the corner…you’re grabbing more tissues so you can wipe the tears of sorrow away. I would definitely recommend to pick this book up
