The Journey of Marcel Grob di Phillippe Collin
An Alsatian veteran must defend himself against charges of having committed war crimes by explaining how he came to serve in the Waffen SS. The Nazis regarded Alsatians as German and made them subject to conscription but Marcel denies having volunteered for the SS. His tale of the horrors of war in Italy and other fronts is well told and well illustrated.
