It is politically in vogue right now for Canada to fret about our arctic sovereignty, but there is nothing to worry about. Our sovereignty is secure in terns of ownersip of our lands and waters. The Northwest Passage is an issue of nagigational status, not ownership. It's ours. And even if there were a real issue, sovereighty isn't about symbols, tokens and gestures.

Now, it spite of the fact that we are dealing with a non-problem in terns of sovereignty, this is an interesting book which looks at Canada's northern history, resources and people. The north is a beautiful and fascinating place, and the authors have done a great job in setting out many of the topics all Canadians should pay more attention to. We just shouldn't lose sleep over Arctic sovereignty.

Very interesting account of the (slow) development of the internet in Japan.
