This is a second chance romance but a bit different.
Peter Medeci, is a highly skilled neurosurgeon, his wife Ellie left him and he finally catches up with her.
It's a story about there being more to a relationship than providing materially. Peter is very committed to work and Ellis feels she always takes second place to his career. There is a complete lack of communication and at times when they do talk he is very unkind and almost cruel, I wasn't that keen on him.
It's an okay story, not one I would re-read.… (altro)

I was drawn to this book by the chaotic blurb. It sounded like a romantic farce and something I would very much enjoy.

Sadly, I was disappointed almost from the outset. I'm not even sure that the story I read matched the blurb.

The writing style did not appeal to me, and I didn't find it an easy read. Several times I didn't understand who was speaking or what was going on, and I question the plausibility of some of the action, such as how Johnny came into the $5 million, and why on earth he'd allow Michael to work for him, let alone live in Sam and Johnny's own home, given their history.

Heaven-sent Mirabella is introduced in the Prologue and is immediately likeable, but I would have liked to have seen her character fleshed out a bit more during the rest of the story.

I also questioned the idea that Sam and Johnny had been married for two years, were all loved-up in that time, and with the arrival of unexpected news, were suddenly unable to talk to each other. They do, however, overly share their doubts and fears with the reader, and I longed to get past this to find out what it was all about.

This one just wasn't for me, I'm afraid.

The Italian neurosurgeon, Peter Medeci, has a score to settle with his estranged wife: her reckless bid for independence has nearly destroyed his medical career.

Ellie, desperate to reassert herself as more than his bedroom playmate, flees the ‘fairytale’ for a gig in a Hollywood club until Peter comes looking for her. For her freedom, Ellie must spend the next three weeks being the ‘good doctor’s wife’ in public…and his mistress in private!

The story is typical romance there is everything that one good romance book could have two persons in love but they hate each other, one big secret which leads the tale ahead, hot- cold situation and many things which I love.

Ellie is an interesting character and I like her way of thinking and the need for more attention and care. She is a woman who doesn’t have only beauty but also has other qualification to be a good female.

I don’t like that Peter is over obsessed with his job, I think that everything that is more or less isn’t good, but the best is Aurea mediocritas ( The Golden Mean).

They are a good couple and it seems they are meant to be together.

When Julia finds her husband with another woman that is the end no matter how rich or how handsome he is. But Michalis Leonidis a Greek tycoon doesn’t share the same meaning with her. He wants revenge and he is furious. It is not about a billion dollar deal broken or his marriage but he can’t pass through the secret Julia hides from him. So, Michalis gets big vengeance on her.

The story is typical romance there is everything that one good romance book could have two persons in love but they hate each other, one big secret which leads the tale ahead, hot- cold situation and many things which I love.

I like Julia because she knows what she wants. She is an independent woman who doesn’t have only beauty but also has other qualification to be a great female.

“Not long ago, she’d owned countless such designer gowns, shoes, jewelry, and had the man- the life- to go with it. A sound gurgled in her throat, and the girl cast her odd look. Julia swallowed and turned away, blinking back the tears pressing against her lids.”

One of the we-are-enemies scenes:

…when he shifted his eyes to her, his tender look became eclipsed…

“Don’t look at me like that,” she’d said between her teeth.

“Like what?”

“Like I’ve committed some great sin.”

He scratched his cheek with the pad odd his thumb. “Conscience nipping at you?”

“No,” she hissed. “ It’s not my conscience that’s guilty, it’s-“

I recommend this novel to everyone who wants easy romantic story especially to read on the beach.
