This book is about children who dress up for their school's Halloween party, and one of the students (Raymond) dresses up as a squid. The box continuously reiterates that you should never poke a squid, specifically in its ink bag.

Introduced my child to name-calling: "fat cows" and so forth. I'm not happy about that.½

Alex doesn't want his new brother. He thinks the baby cries to much. Alex's father sings him a song while they look at the "dancing" stars. By doing this Alex's father reassures him that even though there is a new baby in the house, his parents still loves him the same as before.

"Minnie and Moo: The Attack of the Easter Bunnies" is a great book for young readers to begin their reading with. It is a cute story of two cows, Minnie and Moo, who decide that they need to find someone to dress up as the Easter bunny to surprise the farmers grandchildren. When it looks like no one would take on this role, Minnie and Moo both dress up. But as they are hiding and waiting to surprise the children, they find that all of the other animals have dressed up in Easter Bunny costumes too!½

Pip, not fully awake and a novice swooper, tries to find some breakfast and falls on Theodore Mouse. Pip helps Theodore find out what flying and swooping is like and Theodore helps Pip find something for breakfast…a banana! Colored pencil, beautiful sky scenes and realistic illustrations except for the animal characters who have expressive faces and Theodore Mouse sits at a table and uses dishes to eat. Nice story for friendship story time…the animals help each other and in turn, help themselves.

Not, my favorite poem book. It was a little confusing to keep to with Minnie and Moo since it changed so quickly. The poems were cute and something a young student could relate too. I would keep it in a classroom library to help inspire students to write about whatever really makes them happy. In general, it is a cute Valentine's day book!

Early chapter book and a Step Two Reader, Chicken Pox Stories: A Snout for Chocolate is a fast-paced story about a pig who loves "au chocolat"!

Summary: Barney had the chicken pox. Grandpa had anti-itch stories to get Barney's mind off of itching so badly. He tells the story of getting caught by headhunters while out with his friend. The queen wants to kiss him but when he refuses she has her men hang him upside down and dip his head onto lemonade and cranberry juice to force him to kiss her or shrink his head. He still refuses to kiss her so she dunks him until his head is shrunk. Doc Storkmeyer comes to check on Barney and Barney tells him that he doesn't itch anymore because of grandpas anti-itch stories.

Criteria- Critique of Genre: Fantasy- Animals don't talk or get the chicken pox. They don't live in houses or go on headhunting safaris. Shrinking their heads is not real.
Age: primary

The Minnie and Moo books are more for children to read on their own rather than doing a read aloud in the classroom. This chapter book was devoted to saving all the farms animals from possibly being Thanksgiving dinner. Each chapter, a different animal came up to Minnie and Moo begging for their help to hide them. By the end of the story, all of the animals were up in the tree when the farmers went to eat their dinner. One of the characters called it "The Thanksgiving Tree" because all the animals fell from it. The family was about to eat a tofu shaped turkey and they were happy regardless of what they were eating. The book teaches you to be thankful and to appreciate the world around you.

Minnie and Moo are back as two funny cows looking for their farmer’s missing presents on Christmas Eve in this I Can Read Level 3 beginning reader book. It also stars a red-nosed rooster and chickens disguised as reindeers!

I really enjoyed this book. Compared to the other Minnie and Moo book previously read this book was more entertaining and enjoyable to read. The thing I liked most about this book would be the plot. Even though the plot wasn't believable because animals can't talk and most of the animals in this book cannot climb an oak tree i thought the plot was playful, and it was teaching the reader about an important holiday. Thanksgiving was the big idea of this book. The author was descriptive in trying to get the reader to believe that animals know about thanksgiving, and that they are scared so they hide. It pushes the readers to think about someone other than themselves on thanksgiving day because if we do think about it, we are eating animals on thanksgiving day and they do not want to be. The illustrations in the book were helpful to look at and created a useful picture to go along with what was being written in the story. Another big idea of of this book would also be friendship because the characters minnie and moo always find a way to help the other animals in the story to find a place to hide from the farmer and farmers wife so that they wouldn't be eaten on thanksgiving day.

I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked the book for some reasons and I didn't like the book for other reasons. I liked the book because of how creative and silly it was. I think that this book was supposed to be written to make children laugh because of how silly it was. I also liked how the book personified Minnie and Moo, Since they are both cows and can't speak or go on adventures the way they did in this book. The book made them have human characteristics. The author made the characters, Minnie and Moo, believable even though they were unrealistic. I didn't really like the book in a way because the book seemed to over exaggerate and repeat itself. by the middle of the book I knew that the cows weren't actually going to paris or china, there was no sense of mystery of where they were going to go. But that being said I did like how the author made up places to seem as if the cows were really in china or paris, it was creative. The main idea of this book was friendship and journeys or adventure. The cows go to all these different places on a sort of big adventure while maintaining to never seperate or fight keeping their crazy and fun friendship. This book teaches children that friends should stay with each other no matter how crazy one of the friends adventures is.

Impulse grab from the library. I also grabbed some Minnie and Moo books. I like this companion much better, although normally I think cows are cooler than chickens. Clever & funny story - love the title page illustration.

Just another silly Easy Reader, with enough originality and heart to make it worthwhile. The little bit of a twist at the end, when we meet the farmer & family, was cute.

Just another Easy Reader. Described as 'loopy & weird' and I agree. There's a certain charm, but nothing special. Of the three I picked up, I have to take a star away from this. Two of the characters are Holsteins, but instead of being white w/black splotches, they're gray. Grr..

Chicken pox is no longer a concern, because we have a vaccine now. But stories told by imaginative grandpas are still the best cure of what ails a pup.
