rly bold start to the series--a v challenging read. bc of its fragmentary, incomplete, meandering qualities i feel like i cant rate it v highly as it stands on its own, but i feel the narrative and thematic payoff could b incredibly rewarding down the line

like a more focused, moody, and (most importantly) COMPLETED version of nerve machine. unfortunate that cate left out (most of) the commentary on work/labor that usually features in her work

pretty good storytelling, but the climax felt a little underwhelming, and kinda weakened the central metaphor of the "vault" in retrospect

the romance is cute, the vibe is unnerving as hell, and there r some hilarious moments

such a promising start. sadly untouched for 19 months, so prolly abandoned
