I was enjoying this up until the end. The 3rd act breakup made total sense. At first it bothered me that Justin never thought to free her until he wanted her to choose to marry him (and stupidly thought she would stay), so I'm glad Fenella left and Aedan talked some sense into him. I just don't understand why the author wrote that she went straight back to her terrible family and ex-lover just to show us how much better she could have it with Justin. Her moment of realization of her love was just abrupt and dumb, and I didn't resonate with it. I'd have preferred to read Justin make the bigger sacrifice and leave his role with Rome.… (altro)

This was definitely the best book of the Warrior Brother of Sky trilogy. Donnel an Eithni's characters have been built up a lot over the previous two books and after everything that had happened to them, I was so excited to see their stories finally cross together and arrive at a resolution. It was good!

I think this book was slightly better than Blood Feud. It still felt like a pretty slow burn with not much happening (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think I prefer fast-paced stories), but what I liked better was that there was less stubborn hesitation on Lucrezia's part that really started to get annoying with Tea. I didn't really feel like Galan acted in-character in this story and just served to free Lucrezia for plot reasons. But other than that, I enjoyed it.

It was okay. It was pretty slow burn and it felt like not a lot happened until the last 30% or so. The real shame was the dubious consent in the first 20%.
