Broadway and the Cotswolds di Noel Carrington
This short series of essays by W. H. Timperley (whose 1931 book on the Cotswolds was LOwry's only book illustration commission) and Noel Carrington (before he founded Puffin Books) is little more than an advertisement for the Lygon Arms hotel encouraging visitors to explore its environs. It is a charming, gently opinionated, exploration illustrated with informative but artistically unremarkable pictures by an anonymous photographer. Barnard's gazeteer offers no personal insights and the whole publication is largely of interest for its associations.… (altro)
