This book was given to me in the summer of 1970 at the end of 6 weeks working for a Jamaican youth organization building a vacation camp. It was a great experience and I treasure this book. So obviously it stays in my permanent collection.

Morris Cargill lived an interesting life in Jamaica, Britain, and the US, and he comments sardonically on it.

A portrait of Jamaica at the end of the colonial period and the beginning of independence. A bit uneven, but that is to be expected in what it essentially a guide for the visitor.
