- After years of interfaith volunteer work while married and raising children, the Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell became ordained at age 50 with standing in two denominations: the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the American Baptist Church. She was the first woman leader in three organizations. When Desmond Tutu was made Archbishop of South Africa, she was the only woman in the procession of over 200 people. She has worked for peace and justice all over the world. (-karenb)
