Dr. Jake Matthews, Navy OB/GYN is whisked by helicopter to Djibouti for a medical emergency. It turns out to be a CIA ruse; an operative has been wounded and needs attention. In the process he is also asked to attend to a native militia chief who mumbles about the “Blue Death “as he dies. He has seen some blue globules on a research ship but it is all hush hush. After this adventure he is transferred to the naval hospital in Guam where in his off hours he enjoys diving in the nearby reefs. His favorite is Kelly’s. In one such excursion he discovers, underwater, more blue globules and a two-headed eel. The adventure takes on speed, as certain parties want the globules since they have a potential due to their unique DNA to do great damage. The story is told with crisp forensic detail. Clever spy craft is clearly evident and intriguing science fiction. The conclusion is not clearly evident. There is suspense until the very end. A good read, once you start you don’t want to come for air.… (altro)
