A story that once I got into it, held my attention and made me want to keep reading to see what would happen next. Full of adventure and danger with a lovely romantic thread throughout. It is set in the year 1740 and is a story of the Huguenots and a young Jew named Rachel Levin. Her loved ones will be murdered and she must flee her village with a Huguenot, Pierre Dupre (who is the brother of her murdered fiancée). They seek refuge in a church while the military captain who killed her loved ones seeks to find Rachel if it the last thing he does. The goal is Scotland for Rachel and Pierre, but along the way they will agree to a marriage of convenience, Rachel will need to cut her hair and act as Pierre's brother on a ship, will walk miles in all kinds of weather trying to escape death, and grow in their love for one another. A story of faith and forgiveness that stayed with me after closing the final page.… (altro)

Oh my I have fallen in love with the author's beautiful story that brings City Girl to Green Acres. We all remember that show where the city wife living in luxury is swept away to a farm . What a culture shock that must have been. Alyson is in for her own shock when she decides to take a job teaching a ranchers two children . I loved Alyson so much. Her clumsiness made for very funny mishaps throughout the story. I could imagine the look on her face as she realizes the big mansion she was expecting turned out to be a comfortable ranch with a few things missing.

Quarto is a great character who loves God first. He is happy to finally have a teacher for his children since the last one left so suddenly. As Alyson discovers that there is no electricity in the main house, and they live like pioneers she has doubts of her decision to move there. I loved how the author described the beautiful countryside. I could picture the pasture with horses grazing, the wind blowing slightly and the laughter of children as they played outside.

What I loved the most about this story was how Quarto and his family lived as close to what the Bible said as possible. They didn't need fancy cars, or expensive clothes. They did Bible studies together, shared chores and showed Alyson that following God's word was rewarding. As Quarto and Alyson spend more time together will a relationship develop? Can Alyson get use to living a simple life? I thought the story was well written and loved how a shoe much like Cinderella's could have a huge impact on someone. I loved how faith was very important to the characters and how they learned to respect each other's viewpoints. Overall a wonderful and delightful story that will bring a smile to your face. Be careful as you read the story though; you may find yourself humming the theme song from Green Acres.

I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

The author has done a great job of writing a western romance. The details are very picturesque and takes you back to a time where Cowboys roamed the lands working their cattle. Maggie is a very strong willed young woman who has a deep faith. When she comes up on an injured man she brings him back to the ranch to help him. Alex awakens in a strange bed and realizes he doesn't know who he is. Is Alex an outlaw? Will his memory ever come back? Will his true identity is revealed, will those around him be in danger?

It's time to sit back, put your boots up and get ready for a fascinating story filled with witchcraft, bank robberies, attempted murder and a bit of romance. The story reminds me of a John Wayne movie, where the cowboy is mysterious and the woman is feisty and stubborn. This combination makes for an adventure that is unpredictable and at times suspenseful . I was intrigued by the part the author wrote about the way they maked graves . Most people were poor and the only way they could mark a grave was to put chips of glass on the grave. When the sunlight caught the glass it would be a cascade of brilliant colors and show where the grave was. What a beautiful way to describe a tribute to a loved one.

I enjoyed the storyline and the feel of a great western adventure. It is a intriguing book with twists and surprises that will have readers glued to the book.

I received a copy of this book from The BookClub Network for an honest review.

This was a pretty good story. Somewhat gothic. There were some twists and turns. I really liked the characters. I received an ebook copy from book fun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
