Bible Stories Veggie Style!

The mother-daughter author team bring to life the popular VeggieTales characters tell kid-sized versions of Bible stories. Join them as they share events from both the Old and New Testaments.

Some of the things covered include Moses and the Red Sea, Queen Esther, and Jesus feeding the thousands. The book ends with the story of Jesus and Resurrection Sunday, Easter.

None of the stories are longer than one page, and are written with a small child in mind, so they can clearly understand them. Despite the book having fun with the VeggieTales friends, and being abbreviated for little ones, the stories' integrity remains.

Everything is in a sturdy board book with bright colors used in all the illustrations. The nicely padded cover will feel good for little fingers. Children two to six-years-old will enjoy this five-star collection of Bible stories.

Thank you, Worthy Kids, for providing Tickmenot with a book to review. Opinions are my own.

I loved Veggie Tales growing up and I am so excited to share with my children! They love them too! It's a highly entertaining way to teach children the Bible stories!

This is a Bible board book. Growing up I loved reading “Children’s Stories of the Bible” by Burnick. The stories were well-chosen and retold at an elementary level so kids can read Bible stories themselves. This board book should be written on a preschool level. Board books are for preschoolers. An elementary student isn’t interested in board books any more. The only story in this collection that I think was well chosen and well abridged is Daniel and the Lion’s Den. A toddler could listen to and understand this story the way it is written without the reader having to explain difficult words or ideas or give some background story. All other stories would need some help from the reader to get a child to grasp the stories and their ideas. David and Goliath is too vague and needs background stories for comprehension. Ruth and Naomi did not have a point. Moses talks about Pharoah without explaining what a pharoah is The illustration for Jesus feeding thousands has a picture with 8 people on it. It’s hard for preschoolers to understand the miracle of a little bit of food feeding a lot of people if you don’t show it in the picture. They can’t count beyond 10 usually. And at the end Jesus comes back to life without an explanation of his death. The illustrations are adorable and will be enjoyed but I think readers will need to tell a lot of these stories in their own words to help children enjoy the stories.… (altro)

Veggie Tales were all the rage when they first came on the scene and it’s been awhile since I heard of them. Colorful, whimsical drawings are sure to grab the attention of toddlers as they listen to the perfect sized Bible story on each page. Well done! I received my copy through LibraryThing’s Early Reviewer program.
