Kate Bold

I read the first book in this series, Last Breath, and gave it 5 stars so was really hoping that this one would continue the "5-star streak". I was a bit disappointed. Not that it was exactly a bad book...it just lacked the "reality" that the first book had. The main character, Kaylie, is not a police officer and she doesn't even have her degree yet in "criminal behavior" yet the Chief of Police calls her in to investigate the murders? Really??? My husband spent 10 years in two Florida police departments and 22 in years with a department in Michigan. When I asked him if this would ever happen, he looked at me like I had grown an extra head and then said .."oh, you're reading "cop fiction" again.". Kylie did scatterbrained things and was way too reckless when confronting possible murder suspects. I thought she had a latent death wish. I know that many authors like to draw a reading audience for their next book by leaving their current book readers with a cliff hanger...which I don't particularly like. This one has one of those...but then so did the first one. I want to know how the story that I'm currently reading ends and not having to wait sometimes a year or more for the next one.… (altro)
