Everyone thinks that Totty is to small to help anyone, but in the end she proves them wrong.

I'm disappointed. The only book review that I happened to come across while leafing through the book says, on page 152 under "Siblings," that Florence B. Freedman's Brothers is based on the Biblical story of Dan and Joel. Not only can't I find any such story, but it seems that this "Midrash" is relatively new. So the book is unnecessarily inaccurate.

This story is about a little girl whose parents are getting a divorce. The little girl struggles with how to deal with the feelings that she feels once they decide to divorce. She goes through the different stages of denial, fear, and acceptance.
This book is illustrated in colorful pictures that make the theme not seem so upsetting. I liked the way the facial expressions on the people in the book exhibit how they are feeling.
The book could be used to help a child who is experiencing the sadness of divorcing parents. The book can be used to help children understand that not all children live with both sets of parents. The book could be used on a lesson of insecurities and helping children realize they are not at fault in a divorce.

This was one of my favorite books as a child. I especially enjoyed the illustrations, which are delightful and creative. Somewhat in the gentle style of Little Bear, Pippa is a young mouse who enjoys playing with her animal friends, getting stories from her mother, and sliding across the frozen river in a birchbark boat. I still enjoy this book. It is very well done.
