Another case of betrayed expectations.
No world building. The setting was described just enough to feed the erotic fantasy tropes (alpha alien males, all-male society, mpreg, self-lubricating cocks etc), not enough to explore the world or make it the least bit interesting. The discrepancies and missed opportunities piled up so high I spent the second half of the book rolling my eyes on almost every paragraph.
The human MC was of the TSTL (my least favorite) variety. He applied to go to an alien world in hopes of again meeting his brother who went off-world a decade before. The only way to get to the planet Glacerus is by applying to become a mate of one of its inhabitants or the inhabitants of planets Glacerus has a trading alliance with. He had an unspecified amount of time (while he waited for his application to be approved) to read a manual on what he needs to expect from the new planet and its people. And he didn't touch it. He skimmed it. He came there absolutely ignorant of anything relevant, and everyone around him is like "aw shucks". That does not only go against any and all common sense, that is plain suicidal.
The rest of the book was equally superficial and uninteresting. I barely managed to finish it.… (altro)
