I skipped stories from authors that rate all their books. It's not the case with those that only rate antologies; I still don't like it but I can understand it like a recognition to their co-authors.

Spam! It's What's for Christmas

Although it starts out without any real hope for the main character, this quickly turned into a really fun Christmas story with a little bit of magic and lots of humor.

Ben is pretty hopeless at keeping down a job after losing his chances at playing baseball professionally due to a knee injury. When his boyfriend of two years, Kai, dumps him, all he can think of is how to get him back. He needs money for a big gift and accpets a job as a nude male model. Even when it becomes clear that he's very attracted to Gavin, the photographer, he continues trying to fix things with Kai.

I liked the light humor in the form of the 'unlikely Santa' as well as the twist to what Ben thinks he wants and what he ends up getting. Very nice, this story left me with a smile.… (altro)

All's Fair in Love and Advertising di Lenore Black

On re-reading this, I took it down a star.

Anti-heroes need a "Save the Cat" moment and this one didn't have it. I prefer the anti-hero of books like "Stray" where the guy underestimates who he is, rather than the one who thinks he's the bees knees.

Characters need a decent goal, motivation and conflict and no matter how bitch the ex-wife is. Having sex with guys in protest doesn't cut it as a worthy motivation or goal.

Rules Were Made to Be Broken di Lenore Black

Aaron "like" likes his best friend and has for years. He's created rules to help him cope with his feelings and to keep his friendship safe. He has to because he's deep in the closet and Dale is straight. But when he must come to Dale's rescue after a failed date Aaron finds out some rules can be broken.
