Ralley Point: Place of Refuge is a book about family, faith, and loss. It follows Dyanna Jo Baskin, a passionate woman in her middle ages. She miscarries her first pregnancy after three years of trying, and the family is forced to turn to adoption and foster care to look for a child. Was this God's will for them all along? Can they find hope and healing amidst the tragedy?

I admire the author for addressing difficult subjects such as infertility, abuse and neglect, second marriages, foster care, and miscarriage in a loving and biblical manner. The downside to Ralley Point is that the book does drag quite a bit. If I remember correctly, the main part of the story (when Dyanna Jo and Leif begin taking in children from foster care) doesn't even begin until the book is halfway done (130 pages into the story). Furthermore, the two babies mentioned in the blurb don't appear in the story until the last fifth of the book (225 pages into the story). I was a little disappointed at this last development, but although I was bored at times in the first half of the book, the second half definitely picked up the pace.

I would definitely recommend Ralley Point to people who are interested in foster care and/or adoption. (And look at how beautiful that cover is!)

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions expressed are strictly my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.
