Herschel Bernardi

Herschel Bernardi, who played the lead role of Tevye on Broadway, delivers a short introduction to each song, placing them in context so you need not have seen the play nor know the story beforehand. His voice brings depth, humor and humanity to the songs. It's more of a one-man show than a disparate collection of songs. The album was recorded in 1966, five years before the blockbuster movie premiered.
