It is a story about an armadillo who wants to learn more about the moon and what it actually is. Then he asks all of the other desert animals what it is and each of them give their own answer on what they think the moon is. Then since the owl is so wise he finally decides to ask him what the moon is. He then listens to the owl talk until the sun comes up.

This story is about a inquisitive armadillo named Ray who goes on an adventure through the dessert to find an answer to the question "what is the moon?" He encounters many of his animal friends and hears diverse and interesting explanations as to the definition of the great glowing ball in the night sky. This story can be used in the classroom setting to teach students about the moon or follow along with a lesson about dessert animals.
