Fred Bauer (1934–2009)

Easy reading about a cross-country bike trip taken by a family in the late 1960's. As a writer, Fred could rearrange his work to enable an adventure with his wife, 2 teenage children & 3 year old. The children are raised to have a social conscience, with one of the reasons for the trip being the opportunity to experience other people's opinions and attitudes. Bauer pokes gentle fun at himself--his ineptness at mechanical repairs, being out of shape--and takes us day by day through their experiences on the trip.
I picked up this book at a local sale thinking it would be about riding to Hillsboro, WI. They don't come anywhere close to WI.… (altro)
