Great book for understanding how to run programs on the Linux operating system. Command line is not dead yet, so this is good for picking up the bare minimum to get by. My only gripe is that this book doesn't teach anything about SCREEN. This is a must have for running multiple processes in the background without closing on logout. Even experienced WikiPedia editors will learn many details of how MediaWiki works, and how to be a better editor on WikiPedia. Of course, the book is intended for editors and administrators on MediaWiki web sites. It is filled with practical knowledge which is either gained by hard knocks by doing it yourself, or learned much more quickly by the details imparted by this well written book.

One suggestion for those considering buying the book is to look into the online edition at Safari Books Online. Even those who have the book may find that the online edition is helpful by providing code examples ready to use or modify in their own Wiki.… (altro)
