Brother Andrew is the well-known Dutch author of God's Smuggler. What is less well known is that he has spent much of the last few years travelling in the Middle East. The majority of this easy to read and yet challenging book recounts the story of converts to Christianity in a Muslim country. Although fictional, the story is based on real-life situations known to the authors and makes sobering reading as they recount the challenges, persecution and eventual martyrdom faced by these faithful believers. Remarkably after such an account the message of the remainder of the book is not that Christians should fear Muslims or be resentful, but rather it is a challenge to a good jihad" that would bring hope to the Muslim world. Andrew presents four challenges to the church today: "to love all Muslims by giving them the Good News, to forgive when we are attacked, to live lives totally committed to Jesus Christ, and to engage in the real war - the spiritual war". This will certainly be costly but he challenges Christians to pray - "and pay the price."… (altro)

This is the story of an ordinary Dutch man who went undercover for God. He smuggled Bibles into the most closed and dangerous countries of the world, risking his life over and over again. His life of faith and surrender is such a testimony and inspiration.

This is a stunningly inspirational look at how God can change one person's life and redeem them from higher purposes. There are no punches pulled in this book, from Brother Andrew's backstory to the current ministry of Open Doors, and it is wonderful. The first half is a refreshing look at how not even Christians are perfect and how broken lives can be repurposed. The second half, with the Bible smuggling, is a mix of adventure and real emotion. This is a beautiful book that I would encourage every Christian to read at least once.… (altro)
