Enjoyed by our boys and stored in the attic for the next generation, enough said.

This is a fiction book about 5 animals that get into one boat. It asks questions throughout the book to get the children to predict what is going to happen. It also has a rhyme scheme throughout the book to teach rhyming words.

Who's going to sink the boat, the big animals? Of course not it's the mouse.

I found this book one day sitting at Barnes and Noble and I picked it up and read it straight through. Not only entertaining, it's informative for students and makes them think about the ways in which volume affects things like water in a bathtub. A perfect book to use in a math or science lesson.

Another book I read with my son. I think the mouse did it.

Every day it’s the same story: Mr. Archimedes, the goat, the kangaroo, and wombat climb into the bathtub and the water spills over the tub. Mr. Archimedes is determined to get to the heart of the problem. Funny little take on an old story.

In this book all the animals are on the dock. One by one they get into the boat and "who do you think is going to sink the boat?" All of the big animals get in first and then the mouse get's in and tips the boat over. I like this book because it is not what you think is going to happen it would be a great story to tell in class. Grades k-3.

A cow, donkey, sheep, pig and a tiny mouse decided to go on the river with a boat. All the big animals fit in the boat. When the tiny mouse gets in it's just too much so he ends up sinking the boat. This book is a fun humorous book to use in the classroom. This book would be good for ages 2-6, but enjoyable for all elementary.

This book is about Mr. McGee who lives under an apple tree. There are many strange things he does in this book but makes it a little more interesting to see what is going to happen next. I would recommend this for upper elementary students because it is a more difficulty read/rhyming book.

A line of large animals piles into a boat, but the smallest one ends up being the reason it sinks. This humourous story would have children laughing and participating along to see who sank the boat.

I love Pamela Allen books, primarily for the illustrations, but also for the stories too. A lovely, charming, funny book for pre-schoolers.

This small volume challenges our assumptions. As a line of animals get ready to board a rowboat, we're asked which one will tip it over. Will it be the cow, the donkey, the sheep, the pig, or the mouse? A new rhyme each time the question is posed keeps the tale from becoming stale.

This would be good for a primary grades unit on sink/float.

A delightfully told tale about a king who over indulges in all the rich food his cooks can provide. That is, until one day when he becomes ill. Will the stable boy be his salvation? Great illustrations and text.

Allen has used black and white line drawings for the illustrations with stamped colours to create the bouquet of flowers. The words for the colours are the same text colour as the word describes.

The pages are extremely thick which is suitable for the intended audience.

This story would be suitable for a child with an extremely short attention span.

Audience: 0 - 3

This book is a book about five animals, a cow, a donkey, a pig, a sheep, and a mouse who all get into a boat that eventually sinks. This book is useful in teaching math for bar graphs and data analysis, because the different animals could be used as graph data to make comparisons and predicitions from. It is a easy read that is great to use and incorporate into as a math lesson teaching graphs.
Content Summary: Animals, easy read, illustrations, comparisons, and data predictions, math content.

Mr Archimedes is troubled by the fact that after every bathtime with his friends there's a huge mess of water all over the bathroom floor. He begins to blame each friend and through investigation and the process of elimination he discovers that they are all making the water rise and splash over the edge of the bath everytime they get in.

I used this book this year during Science Inquiry as an introduction lesson. We made clay boats and thought about how we could make changes to the boat to make it hold more weight. This was a great piece of literature to use!
