Each story is a stand-alone but several of them count with a recurrent character, Dr. Edmund Kage, which give a nice touch to the anthology as a whole.

Hung Like a Horse by J.P Barnaby - 3 stars
Contemporary, Paranormal (shifters). Slighty dystopic, I liked the general tone.

Chinchilla Chimichangas by Kage Alan - DNF
Boring. Besides, although I can usually carry on the overlap of planes and dialogs without problems, but in this case Ms Kiernan and Ms. Tis turned out to be irritating to me to the point of not being able to go ahead.

Squatting with Spurs on by Kiernan Kelly - 3.5 stars
A travel time story that revolves around -never better said- an interesting idea.

Faux Cowboy by Shae Connor - 3 stars
Contemporary. Predictable but nice

Hooves & Horns by Eden Winters - 4.5 stars
Contemporary, Paranormal (shifters). Funny with hilarious moments, roughly sweet and sexy, I had a great time reading it.

The Boy from Battalion Bluff by Jevocas Green - 1 star
Contemporary with a Sci-Fi touch. Weak plot, porny but cold sex, the only shred of emotion is given for a secondary character (Tyler).

The Five Hells War by Ally Blue - 2.5 stars
Futuristic. Recipe: Take a typical Harlequin (I have read lots and lots of them) with a city girl, a rude but charming cowboy, villains that not only are bad but stupid, turn it into a MM Romance... et voilà! So, altough is well written, this story was somewhat annoying to me. In addition, Balthazar's change of heart is so fast that lacks credibility.

And The Horse He Rode In On by T.C. Blue - 4 stars
Contemporary. Paranormal (shifters). A very entertaining story that, in addition to an imaginative plot and an excellent timing, have as its better trait multidimensional characters; a little bit corny to the ending but it was OK.

There were two books here. One, a 2 star over-the-top forgettable attempt at humor and another (5 star) very touching account of what's it's like dealing with the recognition you're gay.

I must admit I skipped a lot during tales of staying with his grandmother and her brother. The book took a decided turn for the better when he arrived at Jenny's house.

To be fair, perhaps that was because these relatives were more accepting of him as a person.

Perhaps the first bit was needed to show what an asshole he was and how much his world sucked, but that could have been achieved much quicker.

Even if the circumstances weren't factual, I'm sure a lot of the sentiments and attitudes were. The book was worth reading for that aspect alone.

3.5 stars
