Este libro constituye un completo tratado de sufismo y una prueba inequívoca de la maestría del Sayj al-Alawi (m.1934) en la ciencia de la senda espiritual y de su función como renovador de la misma en el siglo pasado. Para realizar esta tarea el Saij toma como referencia al gran sufí andalusí Abu Madyam de Sevilla (n. Tremecén 1198). A partir de sus palabras inspiradas (hikam), el autor construye un comentario detallado de los principios y la práctica del camino sufí. También es una muestra de cómo tradición y renovación se han mantenido ligadas desde el final de la Edad Media a las enseñanzas del sufismo sadilí en el marco geográfico y cultural del Occidente islámico. De forma ininterrumpida sus maestros han conservado un depósito espiritual del cual el Sayj al-‘Alawi es un heredero directo. Su huella ha perdurado en todo el orbe islámico, particularmente en Occidente, influyendo en casi todas la manifestaciones de lo que se conoce como mística musulmana.
Esta traducción, inédita hasta ahora en lenguas europeas, es un esfuerzo más por contribuir a acercarnos a una fuente de conocimiento y de guía que, inalterada en su esencia aunque actualizada en sus formas, se conserva operativa y accesible en nuestros días. -
This book constitutes a complete treatise on Sufism and unequivocal proof of the mastery of the Sayj-al Alawi (m.1934) in the science of the spiritual path and its function as a renovator of it in the last century. To accomplish this task the Saij takes as reference the great Andalusian Sufi Abu Madyan of Seville (n. Tremecén 1198). From his inspired words (hikam), the author builds a detailed commentary on the principles and practice of the Sufi path. It is also a sample of how tradition and renewal have remained linked since the end of the Middle Ages to the teachings of the Sufi Sadi in the geographical and cultural framework of the Islamic West. In an uninterrupted way his teachers have preserved a spiritual deposit of which the Sayj al-Alawi is a direct heir. Its footprint has lasted throughout the Islamic world, particularly in the West, influencing almost all the manifestations of what is known as Muslim mysticism. This translation, unpublished until now in European languages, is an effort to contribute to approaching a source of knowledge and guidance that, unaltered in its essence, although updated in its forms, remains operative and accessible in our days.… (altro)

Un tesoro de comentarios Sufi por un autor cuyas sorprendentes interpretaciones y penetraciones son raras, incluso entre los autores Sufi más reconocidos, El Corán y el Profeta en los Escritos de Shaykh Ahmad al-Alawi presenta por primera vez en inglés todo de las obras recopiladas de al-Alawi sobre los dos principios rectores del Islam. A treasury of Sufi commentary by an author whose stunning interpretations and penetrating insights are rare, even among the most renowned of Sufi authors, The Qur´an and the Prophet in the Writings of Shaykh Ahmad al-Alawi presents for the first time in English all of the collected works of al-Alawi on the two guiding principles of Islam. The Shaykh had embarked on a full commentary on the Qur´an, but only completed an introduction explaining his approach to Qur´anic exegesis and commentaries on three chapters before his death.
