She has sworn off all men due to her past life. God makes his way into the conversation Dani and her aunt are having and she has the right answers to sooth her often quoting from the scriptures. Like learning about the history of the town and how Steve answers questions about the town and how to improve it as he hopes to get the backers for the money the town needs... Love colorful detailed descriptions, would make a great movie Excerpt from the next book is included. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. Lots of drama and mysteries and secrets. Would enjoy reading more from this author. I want to move to Miller's Creek. Yes, I know it is a made up town for a made up story, but oh how it comes to life. I thought Cathy's collection of characters were great. From Dani and Steve to the old geezers at the store, they all have a lot of depth. I loved Mama Beth, I am so blessed to have had a Mama Beth in my past. This is not the first book I have read by Cathy Bryant, although I know this was her debut novel. I am glad I am learning about her a little late. I don't have to wait for the next installment. I love her work and can not wait to read the rest of this series. I really liked this story about Dani Davis who was missing something in her life and that was a place she could really call home. When goes to a small town names, Miller’s Creek, she seems to have found what she was looking for; a mother figure, a cowboy, a welcoming town and maybe God. The story has a little of everything in it, love, laughter, tears and a little bit of mystery in it as well. The characters are well written and likeable and the story moves at a good pace. I love the fact that it is a Christian book but it’s not preachy. I would like to have a little more at the end of the book. I felt there could have been more written but who knows, maybe the author has a Miller’s Creek part 2 coming up about what happens next with Dani and the cowboy, Steve. Leaving a disgruntled mother behind to visit an aunt she has never met, Dani was anxious to arrive at the quaint country town where life could be more peaceful. Just about the time she felt her life could not be more upsetting, she ran out of gas. It was cold, raining and the road was full of ruts. she was not dressed for a jog down this rutted road. A dilapidated truck with a grungy dressed man stopped to assist. It was either take a chance with him or with the coyotes. Their time together did not end well as he quickly dropped her off at a hardware store. This is a sometime amusing, sometimes frustrating and yet sentimental, "tear-jerking"tale of individuals who have suffered immense loss coping with those losses in various ways. It is an account of a community over hundred years old struggling to survive. Within these ages are grief, trust, friendship, hope, relationships, forgiveness, acceptance, resourcefulness and love. Christians will love it as well as others will. The story is well-written and captivating. The only slight negative is - for me- the drama was slightly too extensive. The Book Cover and Title were fine and the development of the characters were very endearing and engaging. The portrayal of the scenes were very visual. My review of this book offers a Four and a Half Stars rating. *This book was sent to me for an honest review, of which I have given. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
