"When Sydney is suddenly widowed, the preacher's daughter--who made sure her life not only followed the Word but a well-planned schedule--doesn't know which way to turn. Although she knows her Scripture, nothing gives Sydney comfort--not the love of her sister, Sherese, or her best friend, Chanel. The black sheep of the family, Sherese could never abide by her parents' rules, and the demands of the church seemed outrageous to her. But when she learns a devastating secret about her past, Sherese realizes that if she doesn't have faith to lean on in a crisis what does she have? Chanel has come a long way from her impoverished childhood; now she has all the trappings of success: a good business, a loving husband, a beautiful child. But when life is not up to her expectations she allows temptation into her cozy family. All becomes exposed and Chanel realizes she needs something bigger than herself to reconcile the terrible mess she has made."--p. [4] of cover. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

The characters are well thought out and sometimes heartbreaking, but very real. I felt better about my walk with the Lord just watching them struggle in theirs. I would recommend this book to any mature christian woman who needs reassurance that she is not the only one struggling and "going through". Single, married, widowed, young and fatherless, churched, barely churched and unchurched are all represented. God is present and working in everyones life even when he appears to be missing in action.
A little sophmoric in the writing style but better than most christian fiction available. ( )
