There are often myths and rumours surrounding films, how they were made and what went on behind the scenes. This book attempts to find the truth behind some popular myths and reveal what how certain famous shots were achieved. About 80 films are looked here, with a two page spread given to each, which includes an image from the film. There are some interesting tit-bits of information in here, but it is restricted by the rigid format - some films are obviously more interesting than others and it would be good to have more detail, whilst others don't really have enough to fill the two pages ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Written by a leading film critic, Story of the Scene takes a famous movie moment - such as the Singin' in the Rain dance sequence, the Alien eruption scene or the 'you talkin' to me?' Taxi Driver sequence - and tells the unique story of the circumstances of its creation. What were the exact details of Brandon Lee's actual death on camera during the filming of The Crow? Why were nearly fifty horses accidently slaughtered in a 1936 film? What were the unexpected weather conditions that created defining moments in The Seventh Seal, The Wicker Man and Bonfire of the Vanities? And just why did actor Michael Madsen drive around LA with his fellow actor in the trunk of his car prior to filming the Stuck in the Middle with You sequence for Reservoir Dogs? Based on the author's occasional column written for the Independent, and utilising fresh interviews and first hand accounts, the book is proof that what happens behind the scenes is often more bizarre and revealing than anything that appears in the finished film. Find out what really happened when Nic Cage ate a cockroach in Vampire's Kiss, how dummies used in The Mission nearly caused a police scare, and how the live octopus-eating scene in Oldboy was filmed. Other films covered include- The Birds, A Clockwork Orange, Dr No, The Godfather, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings- The Two Towers, The Matrix Reloaded, When Harry Met Sally, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Each story is featured on a double page spread, and illustrated with a film still. A perfect gift book for film lovers. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
