Not bad. It's rather short, but for something fluffy like this that's fine. The story runs quickly (which it has to since it has only 100 pages), especially considering quite some page time is reserved for the bedroom scenes. I like that there really wasn't too much of a damsel-in-distress storyline, even if I would have liked it if the main character would have shown a bit more anger when it was justified. I found her quick acceptance of everything happening to her quite unbelievable, but again, for a fluffy snack like this, it's not a problem. ( )

2023 - Turf Wars Space Battle # 07

I cannot utter/type how awful this was in terms of writing. The storyline premise was promising..the execution of that.. very much less so. ( )

I was excited for this book. The synopsis was so interesting and the fact that the main character Robyn is deaf adds depth to what could have been an romance book. Unfortunately everything fell flat. Robyn's character is strong, the fact that she has a disability does not hinder her in any way which I liked, but it was as soon as Keil was introduced the plot fell away. While the conflict an language barrier was there in the beginning it really just fell to the side. Plus I was annoyed at Robyn and Keil' s instant romance. There was no getting to know each other, no build up to the romance and I was just so bored. Robyn just instantly trusted Keil and immediately wanted to sleep with him despite still being a virgin.

The sex scenes were also bland and boring. I am so glad that this was a short book. I do give credit to Arend for deciding on having her main character be deaf, but I felt it could have been handled better. ( )

A very lighthearted and laid-back story.
There is humor. Not the kind that makes you do a belly laugh, but it does make you grin often.

The main characters are very likable.

The story is very well written. No typos/editing errors of any kind, no repetitiveness or any of those annoying things that drive you nuts when you are reading.

Both the story and the writing flows easy and sweet.

My problem is the lack of intensity.
There is very little passion or excitement. I mean the type that gets your heart pumping.

There is a very beautiful adult love making scene and a somewhat quick fight scene. ( )

I really enjoyed the werewolf details of this story. I quite enjoyed the pack dynamics and other details such as the she's my mate thing. I liked the werewolves accidently letting the cat out of the bag. I would have enjoyed it even more had the book been longer with a more involved plot. The writing was well done. I did think that she copped out a bit by having the issue of the deafness dealt with so easily. Mind reading! Poofta! Still the writing was good, the sex scenes okay but I myself think the author would be better served with more plot and werewolfishness and less sex. Any book can have sex scenes but the werewolf idea had chops here. And that's why I like shifter books.

I didn't mind the heroine being so accepting here because somehow the writing made sense although I've read novellas where I was disgusted at how easily the heroine accepted the existence of mythical creatures. I think one of the reasons is that I felt what plot there was was pretty tight. Not a lot of unnecessary things happened. I will definitely try further books in the series.
