Preferred the first story to the second - Wynn seemed more approachable than Simon and you could understand what the fascination was. [return][return]However, light, enjoyable afternoon .

Once again Debbie Macomber has taken a wonderful Holiday like Christmas and weaved it into a magical season of romance, hope, glitter and wonder. This delightful book is guaranteed to warm your soul like a warm mug of cocoa. Macomber writes two wonderful stories about the intricacies of romance and family dynamics in the heart of Christmas. In the first story we meet K.O., er...Katherine O'Conner, a thirty-something Christmas letter writer who is desperate to meet Mr Right but hasn't yet had the chance of meeting him. Set in Seattle Washington in Blossom street, the heroine of the story is seen thrown out of a book store for protesting against Wynn Jefferies--a famous child psychologist whose book, The Free child, whom her sister is a huge fan. Dr Jefferies, K.O., believes is a fake. She plans to start a boycott of his book and vows to give Wynn Jefferies a peace of her mind. That is, until, her zany neighbour reads in the cat litter that Katherine O'Conner is destined to meet and fall head over heels for a man. After making arrangements, K.O.'s neighbours pairs K.O., with non other than Wynn Jefferies...the man with whom K.O., exchanged words earlier over his controversial book. The two of them share a romantic meal together and fall in love....but will their romance last? Can Wynn Jefferies win Katherine's heart and convince her that his child rearing theories are not what she suspects them to be? I enjoyed the book....being an incurable romantic myself, I found the story both funny and charming! This book makes a light fun holiday read. ( )

Sorcha knows I love Debbie Macomber so shared this one with me. We have two Christmas-themed novellas, the first being set around Blossom Street. In fact the first one was the better - they were both very "romancey" (with the classic love-hate relationship between the main protagonists) but the first had more characters and more layers, where the second wasn't as engaging. Still fun though and some good laughs. Will be sharing these on a bookring soon. ( )
