It had fun and informational articles that exposed its readers to multiple ways of life as well as poetry, crafts, contests, jokes, and recipes. I would love to look through a magazine like this with the kids I nanny or my godson. ( ) Story and art combine to create the ideal magazine for emerging readers. Each issue starts off with an episodic adventure about siblings Doodlebug and Dandelion (an original series created for this publication) that reads like a single chapter from a transitional chapter book. Also featured in each issue is a retelling of a folktale from various regions of the world and at least one nonfiction article. Shorter stories, poems, crafts, and games and activities fill the rest of the 36 pages. All articles and stories feature shorter sentences and a medium-sized font, and each page is split about half-and-half between words and pictures. Some of the pictures are photographs, but the whimsy of this publication lies in the original artwork, ranging from watercolor paintings to pastel drawings to pen and ink drawings. Readers are encouraged to submit their own work for upcoming issues, usually short poems or drawings on a specific topic. No outside advertising, just postcards for subscription renewals. Highly recommended for grades 1-3. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
