One thing I love about Mickie B. Ashling's characters is that they feel "real". They aren't picture perfect, they have flaws, can irritate the living daylights out you, yet endear themselves to you at the same time.

This is no different. Cole and Sloan are interesting, multi-dimensional characters that I loved getting to know. They have flaws, faults and definitely aren't perfect. ( )

Note to self - having read the blurbs for the rest of the series you are not going to want to read the other books!

Cutting Cords by Mickie B. Ashling was an ok read, in the authors last book I found the overwhelming emotional moments a little too heavy. While this was in a similar vein, it felt more balanced. Sloan and Cole are certainly characters you have to grow to like and at times I did find them hard work. But, there is something about the author’s style that keeps me coming back for another go.

This book is dedicated to three special people:
To the young man who inspired this story
and who continues to conquer his
personal demons on a daily basis.
To Jeannie G, my dedicated and tireless editor,
friend, and Wailing Wall. Thank you for everything.
To my publisher, Elizabeth North,
for taking a chance on me and giving me a voice.
