A stunning sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera!" Years after the events in the original Leroux novel, Desdemona Valerius uses Christine's tale of the Opera ghost to fake her death and flee from a dangerous man. Her actions reunite the de Chagny family with Erik, The Phantom of the Opera. Relationships are reborn and love struggles to triumph as they seek to escape a madman with the power to destroy them all. Unlike other Phantom sequels and retellings "Midnight Secrets" is not influenced by the Webber play or film. It is a direct sequel to Leroux's tale, examining the history of the Valerius family who raised Christine in the original novel. It is a brilliant and imaginative work which promises to satisfy and dares you to journey further into the deep recesses of the Phantom's dark romantic saga.....… (altro)

As usual, I randomly pick up books to read while my kid's in dance class. Some are duds and end up donated to library book sales. Some are sweet surprises and gain a permanent place on my book shelf. And only two books have permanent residence in my tote bag. "Midnight Secrets" and "Pride and Prejudice" are always with me. "Midnight Secrets" is a great book! I was entertained, time was just flying, and I thought it was memorable too. Overall: well written, entertaining, good blend of humor and drama, and worth re-reading. ( )

Ha, ha I'm in love! This was a great book. I read it while I was waiting for class to begin, and then I had to put it down to pay attention to my prof. b/c it would be rude to continue reading, but it was torture... I couldn't wait to finish it!

If you look at my book shelf you'd know that I like to read a lot of sequels. Pride and Prejudice, The Phantom of The Opera, and Sense and Sensibility are my favs to read sequels to.

Sometimes authors don't capture the voice or personality of the original characters. But this author does. It feels like it belongs on the "phantom universe."

If you like Carlotta you'll like Midnight Secrets. I always wanted to know more about her, and this book gave that to me. I like Christine, but sometimes writers tend to make her too mary-sue for me. She wasn't mary-sue here, so I'm happy.

I think I'll keep this on my bookshelf for a long time. ( )

This novel was so shockingly brilliant I had to purchase several more copies for my friends as gifts. This first-time author is a breath of fresh air to the Phantom fiction genre.

I admit, I am an addict to anything related to Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera (I own over twenty-five different sequels written to it, all published in various languages), but this novel was one of the most exceptional ones I have ever read. It was so different from any other Phantom sequel. Simply put, Midnight Secrets is a stunningly beautiful novel.

Strong, intriguing, and unforgettable... ( )
