A story about coming-of-age and coming into oneself as a young black man, it centers on Jeremy, who is raised by his father's mother and sister after his own mother dies. The first time Jeremy even knew he had a father was when he appeared with his "new" family when Jeremy was ten. Narrated in the first and third persons, the novel is a gripping portrayal of African-American family life in the South. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

This is a story about family, and the strong attachment to our roots, even when family members are absent -- physically or emotionally.
It's well written, but I couldn't identify with the characters. ( )
