More Bullies in More Books contains over 350 annotated titles of books published since 2000. Bott, a retired high school teacher and educational consultant on bullying, has written this sequel to The Bully in the Book and the Classroom (2004) to help readers select books to read with youth to create awareness of the many types of harassment and bullying. Chapter topics are: name calling, put-downs, and gossip; being new and different; body image; cliques, groups and gangs; prejudice; homophobia; cyber bullying and cyberspace; and violence. Each chapter offers selected titles, a copy of book covers, bibliographic information, a brief synopsis, discussion topics, quotes to engage readers in responses, and annotated bibliographies. The texts chosen are diverse in characters and content and include fiction, nonfiction and graphic novels. Books selected include picture books and books for older youth through elementary, middle school and high school and include many popular titles covering a wide range of differences. The Family Book, a picture book by Todd Parr, is included in chapters about being new and different, prejudice, and homophobia. Generation Dead by Daniel Waters, a story of teens who have died and returned to life among the living, is listed in the sections regarding being new and different, prejudice and violence. Boys Over Flowers, a manga series by Hana Yori Dango, is annotated in the chapter about being different. Bott’s web site http://www.bulliesinbooks.com offers more information and recently published titles. Although the text is written for educators and librarians for use in classroom settings, the information contained is equally useful for parents, caregivers and public librarians. A thorough offering highly recommended for all libraries. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
