I always have. I think the first one that drew me in was Vatican by Malachi Martin, a very long time ago. Since then I have read quite a few. Some were bad, some were good or wonderful...some, like this one, hard to describe. I felt that the story was a very good one. I have to say that I also found the movement between one time period and another to be lacking in flow. I had a hard time with this, and found myself turning back several times to make sure that I knew when I was. I also felt that the story itself was told in a monotone. That too, is hard to explain. It often seemed as if the words were simply strung together, again, lacking flow. I did enjoy the idea of the visions, and the devotion of Abu Rashid to the Blessed Mother. Is this a book worth reading? I would say, yes. It took me a while to be drawn in, but all in all, it is a good read. A mystery, a thriller, and a lot of shenanigans indeed. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

An international journalist, a war-weary Portuguese veteran, a Muslim with visions of the Virgin MAry, a rogue priest, and members of the world's most pwoerful--and secretive--organizations come together after the suspicous death of Pope John Paul I. A few operatives bold enough to penetrate the Vatican's shadowy inner circle will investigate what went wrong--and try to prevent the popular new pope from meeting the same fate. In London, journalist Sarah Monteiro is again drawn into the web of international conspiracy, and must reunite--reluctantly--with the mysterious priest/assassin Rafael, and the sinister mastermind known only as JC. Sarah's and Rafael's commitment to truth and justice could prove to be extremely dangerous, for them and for John Paul II, especially if they discover the true power behind the papal throne.
