I really enjoyed reading Lee Bennett Hopkin's selection of poems called 'Families, Families'. The big idea of this book was to pay tribute to all the different types of families and the different things they do together. One thing I liked about the book was the illustrations. In the poem, "My Baby Brother," by Mary Ann Hoberman, the illustrations of the quilt and the characters' clothes and hair are drawn with a lot of texture which make it more realistic. I also like how Hopkins chose poems with language that was very descriptive and enhances the poems. For example, in the poem the same poem by Hoberman there is imagery when she writes, "skin is soft and velvet brown" and "hair is black and curled up tight." Also, in the poem, 'Thinking Time,' by Patricia Hubbell, repetition is used to emphasize something that was happening in the story. She writes, "Silence in the air, silence in the living room, silence everywhere" ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
