I skimmed through this; I can't say whether this is the definitive resource on goats, but it is in it's 9th edition as of this 2019 printing, and it seems to be a very information-dense reference that should give you a very solid background in what you should know before jumping into goat keeping, from different breeds to different feeds, different ways of neutering and de-horning (if you so choose), different diseases and injuries to watch out for, etc. It's clear the author has put a lot of effort into making this as complete as can reasonably fit within the confines of a book.
Casual goat fans (not serious/silly enough to actually start keeping goats) can still browse through and find plenty of interesting information, as well as candid goat photos. ( )
