"He had to marry her. Everyone in London agrees the Byrons are just "as mad, bad, and dangerous to know" as their poetic non-relation. But Lord Jack Byron is facing a predicament that is scandalous ... even for him! Marry a young woman because he lost a bet? Unreformed rake Lord Jack Byron would do anything to get out of it. But the rich merchant who holds his debt insists Jack lead his on-the-shelf daughter to the altar ... and make her believe it's a love match. With no options, Jack agrees, thinking he'll be shackled to a closed-in spinster. But Grace Danvers is no milk-and-water miss ..."--p.[4] of cover.… (altro)

skimmed a lot. no real conflicts. Big Misunderstanding. characters were flat and one dimensional. ( )

Sure, it's formulaic, but I love this formula. Plain, insecure heroine is deceived by dashing lord who must marry her for money. Plenty of angst. I thought she gave in a little too easily when the shit hit the fan but still, it wasn't as if I didn't see the HEA coming. We were privy to his inner monologue, she was not. I would have roasted him over the fire. But of course I liked it. (3.5 stars)

First read in February 2012, re-read December 2016. Bumped up to four stars for the angst! ( )

I thought this book started out interesting with the heroines father blackmailing the H to marry his daughter. Its an old plot as far as regencies go but done well it can be good. H starts to pop up wherever the h goes, and I could really symphatize with her confusion at suddenly being chased by such an eligible bachelor. Up to this point I was enjoying the book.

Then things got racy...I felt he fell a little to conveniently for her and after she agreed to marry him they did little but have sex and nothing else.I mean a little steaminess is good in a romance, but the H got me wondering if he was some kind of sex-addict...hrm Since everytime the h wanted to talk with the H,he initiated sex. Thats not the sign of a healthy relationship IMO

Ive read worse and Ive read better...but this book just becomes kind of "meh" halfway through. ( )

This book felt more like the Tracy Anne Warren that I enjoy so much. She even threw in a reference to characters in other series. Very clever. ( )
