This episode in the Murder, She Wrote book series would have worked perfectly in the TV series. The family element was there with Jessica visiting her nephew's family in New York. Then he gets in trouble at work, and Jessica has to rescue him. Even the ending wrapped up as it would have on the TV show. It was a pleasant read during a stressful time for me. Jessica Fletcher, mystery writer and amateur crime solver, travels to New York for business and family time. Both her nephew and her literary agent gently nudge her toward filming a commercial for Permezzo; Jessica reluctantly agrees. When Betsy, the proficient but disagreeable chief creative officer is murdered, Jessica finds herself immersed in a mystery. This mystery also focuses on a missing child. Jessica is an older Nancy Drew ---intelligent, focused and fearless!! I loved the television series, Murder She Wrote. This mystery is a panacea for a long evening. Jessica stops in NYC to visit her nephew Grady and as a favor, checks out the pitch from the Permezzo credit card people for starring in a commercial. Jessica signs on, along with a few other well-known folks and the day of shooting arrives. With Grady and his son Frank along for support, Jessica runs her part of the commercial beautifully, other are not as prepared, angering some of the bigwigs, who are worried about time and money. One of those same bigwigs is found murdered when young Frank goes missing, and it's up to Jessica to help discover the truth, when her family is put at risk. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I liked this book more than Coffee, Tea, or Murder that I read earlier this month. I like the fact that it felt almost like a locked room murder. Our only suspects were those in the building and on the commercial shoot. I loved the side characters as well. Especially Cookie the Southern BBQ chef. Overall this is a solid, 3.25 rating. ( )
