There are differences in how we design courses based on many factors, not the least of which is a distinction between professional programs (like Engineering and Education) or non-professional programs (like Chemistry or Literature). Professional programs have the benefit of knowing how their graduates will use the content knowledge and skills developed in the degree program. This book encourages the reader to carefully consider the goals of engineering education and to redesign courses and programs to effectively meet those goals. An aspect included in this text not found in others is a section on ethics in professional practice.
