This is a great book to help students understand the various uses for the comma and how it changes the meaning of a sentence. This would be an excellent mentor text for writing mini-lessons in grade 3+. The images are lighthearted and match the text. The final pages describe the reason for each comma and the type of clauses and other grammatical considerations. ( ) This book shows the importance of commas through multiple funny examples. The first example, which the book is titled for, is that a panda bear comes into a library and shoots an arrow and then leaves. The panda does this because the book about pandas says they “eats, shoots & leaves” the book means they “eat shoots and leaves” but the comma changes the meaning completely. This is an important lesson for kids. This book is not really a story but just a collection of humorous examples. It reminds me of the Amelia Bedilia series. I think this book is perfect for a ELA lesson and would make learning about commas fun and memorable for students. This book shows how important commas are when writing. It uses humor to show the different meanings that one statement can have simply by adding or removing commas. This book is very informative and would definitely have a place in an ELA classroom library. However, it is not particularly useful to the subject of mathematics unless addressing carefully writing word problems. For this reason, I would not have it in my mathematics classroom library. This funny book shows the importance of commas and their placements. Many students, of all ages, struggle with commas and where they should go that why this book is great for everyone. The back of the book even includes some comma rules to help explain why the funny sentences throughout the book did or didn't make sense. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
