An interesting book about sharks for children.

Sharks are cool! They are! I mean look at those teeth, and that weird skin flap that goes over their eyes. Great white sharks are the best because they look like real live monster creatures that could really tear things up. Sharks rule and Zoobooks Magazine knows this. The 'Sharks' issue of Zoobooks is full to the gills with all sorts of shark facts. Right on the inside cover the reader gets thrown off the deep end into the history of sharks. Subsequent pages discuss the anatomy and physiology of the shark and how this works with their brains to do all of the great sharky things sharks do. The middle of the magazine has a section where kids have written in to share shark drawings and poetry. There is also a word search making the publication interactive.

Zoobooks seems to have a pretty good idea of the types of animals that hook children. This publication really works for schools and libraries because it can be used for a wide range of ages. Kindergartners might be entertained by the close up photography of animals, but it also primes children for using periodicals for research. These magazines also work for animal book reports done by children in later grades. The thick pages on the cover and even on the inside make this publication something that can be used over and over by curious kids of all ages.
