Gorillas and Their infants is an informative book about gorillas and their babies. This book is filled with colorful life like photos that children will love. This book teaches children that gorillas are mammals, where they live, what they eat, and the behaviors of infant gorillas. There is an illustrated time line of a growing gorilla. It starts at birth and shows the changes in the gorilla until its tenth birthday. This is a great book for young children. If a child wants to learn more, there is a list of other gorilla books in the back of the book. There is also a list of gorilla internet sites for any child or parent that is interested.

I have always been extremely captivated by gorillas, they are without a doubt my favorite animal. My children and future students will be interested in learning about animals. This is a book I would use with my younger students to teach them about Gorillas and their young. The pictures are incredible and even though the book is easy to read it has many facts that children will find interesting.

I would read this book and other books about animals and their young prior to a zoo trip. After we went on our outing to the zoo the children would have to make an animal mask of their favorite animal. At the zoo the children would have to observe the behavior s of baby animals and write about it the next day at school. Circle time would be a great time to discuss the differences and similarities in the animals we had seen at the zoo.
