I really struggled to get into this book, so much so that I gave up on it. I thought I would enjoy as I had loved previous works by this author, particularly Vurt.

A surreal/postmodern book, written in flowing, stream of consciousness music-lyric style. The story of Elliot, a bass player who joins a band experimenting a startling new technology: liquid music. Give it a shake, and you get a new remix. A great deal of tension and mystery comes from the relationships of the band members, and events from the past that link them together.

Despite the lyrical prose with the limited punctuation and non-existent capitalisation, I found this book readable and enjoyable: a response I've never had with any of other Jeff Noon's works.

This book reminded me a great deal of Synners by Pat Cadigan, a mix of rock'n'roll, dance music, drug culture, and interpersonal tension. ( )
